Hyderabad: As many as 1,404 entities in Telangana were recognized as startups by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) as on June 2025 under Startup India initiative. These startups were among the total 22,977 that were recognized by DPIIT as on June 2025. It recognized 1,809 startups in Telangana in 2024, while 1,760 startups in 2023 and 1,381 start ups in 2022, according to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Jitin Prasada, said a total of 1,80,683 entities have been recognised as startups under Startup India initiative by DPIIT as of June 30, 2025. The Central government is implementing certain specific schemes or programmes which are supporting women-led startups and promoting inclusive entrepreneurship. As a result of such efforts, of the total of 1,80,683 entities recognised as startups, 87,285 have at least one-woman director or partner. The government has undertaken multiple initiatives for international partnerships with the aim to enable cross-border collaboration between Indian startups and global stakeholders. These include hosting flagship events like Startup Mahakumbh and Global Venture Capital Summits to connect startups with investors, incubators, and other stakeholders. The Union Minister said this while responding to a question raised by MP Naveen Jindal on Startups India Initiative in Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
