The Learning and Development arm of Alpha Partners was conceived with the aim of
catering to the specific training requirements of organisations and academic institutions alike. Since its inception, we have successfully conducted several bespoke training sessions across diverse sectors. Our recent lecture for the students of the MBA in Construction Project Management program at the RICS School of Built Environment (RICS SBE), Amity University, stands as another testament to the vision with which Alpha Learning and
Development was launched. The session on ‘Arbitration in Construction Disputes’ was highly engaging, with students actively participating and sharing insightful queries, making the interaction both informative and enriching.
Key session goals included:
Understanding Arbitration in Construction Contracts: A detailed exploration of the legal and procedural aspects of arbitration in construction projects, focusing on the rights and obligations of contracting parties, and the role of arbitration clauses in mitigating risks.
Identifying Common Sources of Disputes: The discussion highlighted typical areas of conflict in construction projects such as delays, variations, and payment issues while emphasizing proactive contract management and clarity in drafting to prevent disputes.
Case Studies and Practical Insights: Through interactive case discussions, participants examined real-life arbitration scenarios to understand procedural nuances, institutional rules, and the strategic considerations in dispute resolution.
Evolving Trends and Best Practices: The lecture also covered recent judicial precedents and emerging practices in construction arbitration, equipping students with a forward-looking perspective on how arbitration continues to shape the construction sector.
The session witnessed an enthusiastic exchange of ideas, with students posing
insightful questions and sharing their perspectives, making the interaction both
informative and enriching truly reflecting the core objective of Alpha Learning and
Development to bridge academic understanding with real-world legal practice.
