TDB-DST Supports M/s Kapih Deep Tech Private Limited, Pune with ₹4.07 Crores Conditional Grant assistance under India-Israel Industrial R&D and Technological Innovation Fund (I4F)

The Technology Development Board (TDB), Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, has entered into an agreement with M/s Kapih Deep Tech Private Limited, Pune for the project titled “Adaptive Digital Twin Framework for Urban Water Distribution Systems: A Conceptual Implementation Strategy for Indian Infrastructure.”

Under this initiative, TDB will provide conditional grant assistance of ₹4.07 crores out of the total project cost of ₹5.82 crores. The project is supported under the India-Israel Industrial R&D and Technological Innovation Fund (I4F) Call for Proposalin collaboration with the Israeli partner, M/s Reali Technologies Ltd.

The project focuses on developing an AI-driven adaptive digital twin framework capable of simulating, monitoring, and predicting the performance of urban water distribution systems in real time. The solution leverages the RealiteQ Cloud-based SCADA platform, enhanced with advanced analytics, to provide a scalable and cost-effective tool tailored to Indian conditions.

By integrating risk mitigation strategies into the deployment of digital twin solutions, the project seeks to overcome key challenges in India’s water sector such as:

    • Aging and stressed infrastructure
    • High levels of non-revenue water losses
    • Fragmented and limited monitoring systems
    • Resource inefficiencies in urban supply chains

To ensure wider applicability, the project will conduct multiple pilot deployments, demonstrating how Indian cities can gradually adopt AI-enabled monitoring and control systems. This phased approach is expected to lower initial costs and ease integration with legacy infrastructure.

Speaking on the agreement, Sh. Rajesh Kumar Pathak, Secretary, TDB, said
“India’s urban water systems face significant challenges that require innovative and technology-driven solutions. By supporting the development of adaptive digital twin frameworks, TDB is enabling scalable and practical tools that can enhance efficiency, reduce wastage, and make urban infrastructure more resilient.”
