Established in 1996 through a collaboration between the Government of India and the State Government of Kerala, the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) is the fifth IIM to be established in India. Spread over about 112.5 acres of land, IIM Kozhikode, is situated on two hillocks in the Kunnamangalam Area of ancient city of Calicut in Kerala. Boasting of one of the most picturesque and oxy-rich campuses in the country, IIM Kozhikode is devoted to nurturing future business leaders in teaching, learning, consulting, research, and innovation. The growth story of IIM Kozhikode is not just about the numbers, but also about some remarkably innovative initiatives that has set the bench mark for other institutions in the country. The Institute is currently on a high growth trajectory, offering the widest range of academic programmes in the field of management education and has consistently brought notable innovations to programme design and their delivery. Many such innovations were emulated by others, and IIM Kozhikode takes pride in being a change agent that transformed the higher education space in India. The Institute has achieved such success only through academic rigour, research focus and education excellence making brand IIM Kozhikode a household name in India. With the first flagship PGP course dating back to 1997, started with a batch of 42 students, the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode has grown tremendously over the years to a current student strength of 1200 odd students who graduated in 2024, making it one of the fastest growing management schools in the country. The Institute is on a high growth trajectory today, offering widest range of academic programs in the field of management education. Anticipating the multi-disciplinary approach ushered in by NEP 2020, IIM Kozhikode also has the unique distinction of offering the first MBA programme that intertwines management and humanities by introducing the PGP – Liberal Studies and Management (2020). Other regular full-time MBA programmes include the PGP – Finance (2020) and PGP – Business Leadership (2019). The Doctoral Programme in Management (PhD) offered by IIMK is now in to its 17th Batch and is a full time, residential, fully financially supported doctoral programme of the Institute. PhD (Practice Track) for Working Executives was also initiated in 2019, for the executive participants of this programme enrich business knowledge armed with their industry experience and academic exposure.
