In India, UPI made every phone a wallet, billions of transactions like clockwork. Meanwhile, Apple Pay , Google Pay , and PayPal keep the US and EU tapping instead of swiping, while Visa and Mastercard still hold the crown.

 

Startups are rewriting the playbook: Stripe powers global e-commerce, Square makes POS chic, Klarna makes waiting optional, and Indian players like PhonePe , Razorpay, and Paytm turn QR codes into everyday magic.

 

The question is: Will cash become history, or is this just the next step before an even bigger payment revolution?
